Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Redway for Council 2026 campaign collects when you use this website, what we do with it, and how to tell us to stop. It is written to describe what actually happens, not to cover every theoretical case, and it is short on purpose.

Last updated: August 24, 2026

Who we are

This site is run by the campaign to elect Leonard Redway to the Inglewood City Council, District 1. Paid for by Leonard Redway for Inglewood City Council, FPPC #1454899.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@redway4council.com.

What we collect

When you fill in a form on this site, we collect what you type into it. That is your name, and then whichever of these you choose to give us: your email address, your phone number, the language you would prefer to hear from us in, your message, and the ways you said you would like to help.

We also record which follow-up boxes you ticked, the exact wording of the permission language you were shown when you ticked them, and the date. That record is how the campaign can show that you asked to hear from us rather than that we simply had your number.

Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs of requests. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics on this site.

Voter registration information

Separately from this website, the campaign holds voter registration information obtained from public records maintained by Los Angeles County and the State of California. This is public data that every campaign may obtain, it is used only for campaign purposes as state law allows, and it is never sold or passed to anyone outside the campaign.

What we do with it

  • Reply to you when you have asked us something.
  • Follow up about volunteering, events, and ways to help, if you asked us to.
  • Send campaign updates by the methods you agreed to, and only those.
  • Meet the campaign's reporting obligations under California law.

Text messages and your mobile information

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

In plain terms: if you give the campaign your mobile number and agree to receive texts, that number is used by this campaign to text you and for nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or hand it to another campaign, committee, vendor, or advertiser.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply: the campaign does not charge you to receive these messages, but your mobile plan may.

You can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP to any text we send, and you can reply HELP to find out who we are and how to reach us. Full details are on our text message terms page.

Who else sees it

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.

We do use outside services to run the campaign, and they see only what they need to do their job: our website host, our database provider, the Microsoft 365 mail service that delivers form submissions to the campaign's own inbox, and the provider behind the site's AI assistant. They act on the campaign's instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.

Donations are handled entirely off this site by the committee's compliance processor. If you give, you enter your details on their page, not ours. This website never sees, handles, or stores payment card information.

California campaign finance law requires committees to publicly report certain information about people who contribute above a threshold, including name, address, occupation, and employer. That disclosure is a legal obligation and is separate from this policy.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it.

The AI assistant on this site

The chat window on this site is an automated assistant, not a person, and it says so every time it speaks. What you type into it is sent to the third-party service that generates its answers so that it can reply. It does not have access to the campaign's records, and it cannot look you up.

Please do not type personal details into the chat. If you want the campaign to have your contact information, the forms on this site are the right place, because that is where your permission is properly recorded.

How long we keep it

We keep what you send us for as long as the campaign needs it, and we keep permission and opt-out records for as long as required to show that we handled your choices correctly. Asking us to delete your information does not delete the record that you asked us to stop contacting you, because that record is what keeps us from contacting you again.

Your choices

  • Email: every campaign email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Text messages: reply STOP to any message.
  • Anything else: write to info@redway4council.com and ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do our best to answer promptly.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and the campaign does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to info@redway4council.com and we will remove it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection and submissions are stored in an access-controlled database. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise, but we limit who can reach this information to the people running the campaign.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
